before anything else, i'd like to categorically say that i'm a person sickened with religion and just about everything that comes with it in general. back to our normal programming.
on a sidenote. my aunt said to us over noche buena that there will be some people from church going around carrying a statue of the Sto. Nino. and that if they stop by our house, let them in. and if we had cash to spare, do kindly donate it.
i asked why, and she reasoned out that it was a symbolic act of the arrival of the Son of Man in the household.
not exactly verbatim, but the thing is, it's fucking hypocritical. christmas is a freaking joke nowadays. on the assumption
(oh by the way kids - when you ASSUME, you make an ASS out of U and ME. thank you Director Jack Crawford from 'Silence of the Lambs')
that the entire history of christmas is true (and chances are, it isn't) then the act of bringing the image of a child (pedophilia anyone?) to households on the pretense of bringing blessings in is nothing more than a money-milking activity disguised with the trappings of religion.
for one, christmas isn't in the goddamned tree or the statue of a child in a kung fu pose or the pedophile in red and white. it's about the supposed birth of the one who will save us all from hell (if it exists). even the fact that people are venerating images is in direct opposition of what is said in the Bible (that one should not be worship idols and statues). so what the heck is happening here?
i'm no scrooge or a grinch. but the way things are going, christmas nowadays has reverted to its pagan roots. this time though, money is the deity one worships.
