I’m actually forcing my sorry ass out of that rut called writer’s block just to write this. Generally not a good thing to do for it results in shitty entries, but I’d be damned if I just sit around.
It all started with a link to this blog entry about a horrible incident (whoa, Runner-up for the Understatement of the Year Award right there!) that was being passed around. I can’t quite make a proper summary out of it (you really have to read the blog entry to get the proper feel of the story) but long story short, some people - a mayor, his golf buddies, his bodyguards, his father who happened to be a Cabinet secretary - decided that laws and proper ettiquette are not applicable to them just because they’re associated with political power. This mayor, with his golf buddies, beat up a hapless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old child just because of a misunderstanding on the golf course. This stuck-up mayor, with his golf buddies, kicked a 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old child who are already down and out just because these arrogant bastards were in a hurry to play golf. This mayor PUNCHED a 14-year-old KID who was BEGGING that they stop beating up his 56-year-old dad ON THE FACE. This mayor arrogantly screamed ‘“Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!” to his caddy after beating up the father and his son. This power-drunk mayor, with his golf buddies, beat up AGAIN a 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old child who were looking for succor in the clubhouse. This mayor’s dad, who is legally considered to be an alter-ego of the President on certain concerns, just looked on at the THUGGERY that was happening.
This mayor is at par, or even worse than Claudio Teehankee Jr. or even Rolito Go. They all preyed on people who were doing nothing wrong. They were all drunk with the false sense of power and security that political connections bring. All of them reeks of the arrogance and audacity that trapos (literally translates to ‘rags’, ‘trapo’ is a local slang term for ‘traditional politicians’) and so-called ‘connected’ people have. The only difference is that Teehankee Jr. and Rolito Go have killed already, while this mayor has just assaulted someone (not to make light to his damnable offense). However, that may also change - updates that trickled in has indicated that the 14-year-old child is now in a hospital with a bleeding liver.
This mayor’s father truly is the alter-ego of this country’s so-called President. Both consented to wrongdoings that were happening in front of them. Both are willing to cover up the wrongs that were done by people connected to them. Both are trapos.
I really hope justice will be served, even if it’s improbable, considering how fucked up the system is in this country. I’d settle for a sentence of 10 years in prison for this arrogant bastard of a mayor. Even if I know he will be pardoned as soon as possible, I’m hoping that karma will bite him hard on the ass in the form of crushed political dreams,

hard ass-reamings and Cleveland Steamer sessions while in prison. A year is a long time; I’m very sure a lot of inmates will get a kick whenever they power-trip this once-powerful politician.
To this arrogant asshole of a mayor: Kiss your political dreams goodbye. Karma moves fast, and I know you’ll get hit by it hard. Fine, I’m all for hearing both sides of the story. So why not tell yours? Explain why you had to beat a 56-year-old father and his 14-years-old son not once, but twice. Explain why ettiquette and rules should not apply to you. Explain why you have the gall to file counter-charges against the people whom you wronged.
To the father of this arrogant asshole of a mayor: the irony is so rich. You were recently assigned by the President to the peace panel handling the MILF. You failed to keep the peace in a dinky place like a golf course. I mean come on, how hard is it to put a hand on your son’s shoulder and say ‘anak, tama na’, ‘anak, kaunting lamig lang ng ulo’, ‘anak, huwag kang mag-utak bayag, nakakahiya’? Shame on you for letting this happen. Shame on you for not lifting even a finger to stop this, even though you know you can stop it.
To this brave girl - student, golfer, athlete, loving sister of the poor 14-year-old boy who got punched in the face for protecting his father, good daughter of the 56-year-old father who took time to enjoy a good round of golf with his children - I salute your bravery. You have made your family and the whole world proud by standing up for what is right. Rest assured your small but clear voice will be heard throughout the internet and the world. We stand by you in calling for justice for the wrongs that were done. Best of luck to you. And take care always.
