So I’ve been ear-deep in the shit called work; I never did figure out how I dug myself out of that but I sort-of did it. Anyway. Almost a month back I was invited for the (re)launch of Seven Suites Hotel Observatory. Almost a month later, here I am writing about it.
The Seven Suites Hotel Observatory is definitely not in the league of some of the more well-known hotels. No spiral staircase with a string quartet playing at the bottom; just the concierge with alert staff ready to attend to you. No plush carpet that threatens to swallow your feet up to your ankles and charge up a nasty static charge; just a no-nonsense tile floor that won’t let anyone slip or twist an ankle on. No gilt trim on everything; a deep chocolate brown trim so dark it’s almost black marks the borders between the light cream walls, ceilings and other objects, giving them this subtle glow. Doors of the same shade stand out from the walls, giving one the impression that they are portals to something out of this world. Come to think of it, they *can* be portals to something out of this world.
Anyway. I can post a shitload of pictures of the awesome view from the observatory deck and the abovementioned gorgeous interiors. I can write pages filled with figures of speech on even the smallest detail that you can see there. But chances are you, dear single reader, will be bored to death so let me get to what I think distinguishes Seven Suites from the other hotels in and near the metro.
One thing I learned to appreciate after a month of overtime and missed dinners and generally not having a life is the ability/luxury to go ‘fuck this shit’, leave things behind and well, basically live. I was badly in need of boredom (like silence, boredom is severely underrated and is not a bad thing altogether), of room where I can stretch my mental legs so my brain can wander off and maybe be creative for once. Seven Suites can offer this. The (relative) isolation from the noise and bustle of the metro, the no-nonsense service and I don’t know, even the nearness of the place to the skies give this feeling of serenity you can’t get in the middle of the metro. True, Seven Suites may not have all the amenities of the big wig hotels. And true, some people can’t just bear to leave the rat race even if it’s eating them inside-out. (Idiots. Heh.) But who doesn’t want an oasis, a sanctuary of sorts from well, everything? Even for a short while. Seven Suites Hotel Observatory can be that and more for you, if you’ll give it a chance.
Much thanks to the awesome and very lovely Diana Kathrina Leomo for inviting me over to get a Seven Suites experience. It was quite the adventure going there but it was all worth it.
